SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PRACTICES AND THEIR MANAGEMENT IN A GREEN ECONOMY IN NIGERIA
Abstract
Conventional agriculture systems of production often lead to environmental degradation, economic problems and even social conflict. The efficacy of agriculture systems conducive to the economic, environmental and social sustainability of farming operations has been demonstrated, yet the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices is not widespread. This paper reviewed the various sustainable agriculture practices and their management with the view to encouraging its adoption of sustainable agriculture. The goals and objectives of sustainable agriculture were highlighted. The different sustainable agriculture practices were discussed. It was discovered that there was little information on sustainable agriculture practices available to Nigerian farmers, and that Nigeria is lagging behind other developing countries in policies that should encourage the adoption of sustainable agriculture.
